Who are the Aberdyfi Advertising & Improvements Committee?

AA&I Committee help to finance events, projects and maintenance in the village of Aberdyfi on the west coast of Wales.
We are a not for profit organisation, run by unpaid volunteers, all with a passion for our lovely village.  We discuss and evaluate all requests for donations but always ensure that no individual or business profits from the funding, it must be for a purpose that benefits everyone.
The AA&I Committee

We are a group of local people comprising Community Councillors and members of the public. Our objective is to source and distribute funding to projects in Aberdyfi. We are all volunteers and give our time freely to help others in the village.  We do not undertake works ourselves but we provide financial help to successful applicants if we consider their cause benefits the village as a whole.  When we meet, which is every few months, we scrutinise all new requests for donations and decide which should be fully or partially funded.  Sometimes, if we have questions or concerns about a request, we ask the person or people involved to come to the next meeting so we can discuss their case in person. A list of criteria we use to decide on applications is on the 'Donations' page on this web site. Our meetings are normally closed to the public unless someone has been invited to speak but anyone can attend if they requst it beforehand.  Our meetings are normally held at Neuadd Dyfi or The Literary Institute but in exceptional circumstances can be held on-line.

I am Aberdyfi born & bred and care passionately about the village. I left to develop my career in nursing and returned after retirement 25 years ago. I have been a Community Councillor for most of this time. I have chaired the AA&I and am currently chair of the Caravan site committee. I am extremely concerned about Health Services in the area and regularly work with BCUHB to find solutions to reopen Tywyn Hospital.

I've lived in Aberdyfi for over 20 years having moved from South Wales. My background is in design and manufacture of electronic equipment but I have now retired from business and devote much of my time to village matters. I am a councillor and director of Aberdyfi Community Projects Ltd, another organisation aiming to improve the village for the benefit or residents and property owners.
